It is also a genuinely good bracket. There is no meaningful quality cliff below $100. What there is, is a lot of variation, and knowing what to prioritise makes the difference between a bottle you finish and one that sits on a shelf.

What to Prioritise

A note list you can actually parse. If the marketing describes mystery and confidence but never names a material, you are buying positioning.

Something you have smelled on skin. Obvious, and still the most common failure. The cost of a sample is trivial against the cost of a wrong bottle.

A composition with a base. Cheap fragrances often front load. They open impressively and collapse within two hours. Check what is listed in the base notes, because that is what you actually wear.

What to Ignore

Bottle weight and cap mechanism. Packaging cost comes out of the same budget as the liquid.

Celebrity association. It is an advertising expense that has been added to your price.

Rankings and best of lists with no stated criteria, including this one if we had not just told you what to look for. Preference is personal and skin chemistry is real.

Large discounts on designer fragrance from unfamiliar sellers. The grey market at this price point has a genuine counterfeit problem.
